Welcome to the Collective!

The inception: 2024 has proven to be the year of enlightenment, exposes, uncovering, and shifting. It has been a long time since we have seen the world move in activism this way, and I truly believe that the world governments did NOT expect their citizens to wake up the way we did. Using technology, we started researching, building, and growing and we collectively decided that enough was enough. October 7^th changed the world. Palestine changed the world, we began looking into the atrocities that were not only being done to Palestinians but also the Congolese, the Sudanese, and so forth at the hands of our governments and our tax dollars. As we all, including myself, began to share knowledge online and share what we deemed as wrong, the common question became, what do we do about it? What is the solution? The inception of Freedom for the Collective was built on these questions. Chamar, if you now know better it is time to get active and keep the people engaged, we cannot go back to sleep after this.

The Plan: It was 2 am on a random Wednesday morning and I was looking at the ceiling thinking about how do we stay in this fight for the long haul? First people need to be no longer distracted, we need to make it easy for people to research, we need to provide action items that are quick and can implemented for the long haul. People need to know what their rights are, so they are not afraid to boldly use their voices, participate in a protest, or create a protest but more importantly, people need to know HOW TO MOBILIZE consistently. I began to create this chart in my mind, and at that moment O heard the words. Freedom for the Collective. It would serve as a space where people could learn, get active, find resources, find programming, and learn about mutual aid, AND a place where BIPOC voices and experts can be highlighted, amplified, and appreciated.

The Mission: Amplifying the voices of the oppressed, marginalized, BIPOC communities. Amplifying BIPOC voices that are advocating for change, providing resources, education, mutual aid, and initiatives!

The Outcome: I announced Freedom for the Collective when it was just a MailChimp email sign-up landing page. Within less than 24 hours of the announcement, Freedom for the Collective went global. We had sign-ups from Amsterdam, the West Bank, France, Africa, Brussels, Canada as well as the United States! That’s how knew, this was it and the people are ready to stay engaged! That same week, videos that I shared from my West Bank Contact had been tagged by the ICJ to be used against South Africa’s court case against Israel, and Congolese had begun tagging me in their initiatives because they knew I would get the word out!

The Name: We cannot gain any kind of liberation or freedom on a worldwide scale by rife individualism, egoism, and emotional bypassing. We absolutely MUST come together, work together, support one another, and create systems that are truly by the people and for the people. This takes COLLECTIVE action. We have seen what collective action can do with boycotting alone, imagine what happens when we come together and resist the governmental systems that are keeping us bound in the housing crisis, food inflation, lack of access to healthcare, and so much more?! In the words of Kathleen Cleaver, “Everybody knows that all the people don’t have liberties, all the people don’t have justice, all the peoples don’t have freedom, all the peoples don’t have power so that means that NONE OF US DO!”

This time it is different. I have grown, I have evolved, and I refuse to go back to the chains of glitter that I allowed myself to be placed in over the years. As I say in most emails.

This is NOT a trend! We will NOT go quietly into the night! We will NOT be silenced! We will NOT go back to sleep! The Collective shall continue to rise!
